Magna Carta Records had contacted me about doing a holiday record. I wasn’t the least bit interested in singing Christmas Carols. Company president Peter Morticelli simply said “you figure out what would get you interested and let us know how you want to do it”. No pressure right! After a week I came up with the idea of taking classic holiday songs and morphing them together with classic songs from the 70’s and 80’s. We Three Kings is one of those tracks from the very first December People album called Sounds Like Christmas. It was designed in the style of Sting for the label. That studio album version was originally sung by Steve Walsh of the band Kansas. A few years later after buying the rights back to the first two albums the band continued recording and released 2 more albums. With four albums completed over the past 10 years we now have a new one set for release in 2023.
